DIY Week!

Ana White - Little Crates

This link will send you to the instructions I used to make my crates for the bathroom. FYI, its an addicting site, that will keep you on it for hours! Especially if you are a DIY-er like me.
Me and my husband made these in about an hour when we went to my mom's for the weekend. The tutorial said to use 1x4s but I wanted something a little deeper so we went with 1x8s. I was able to make 3 crates with this tutorial, and I only had to buy a few extra slat boards to compensate for my extra 4 inches. I think I bought 2 extra slats. I bought my materials at Home Depot and the guy running the saw was kind enough not to charge me for all my cuts, even though only 2 cuts are free. (but tell no one!) ;)

So, I hung them up about an hour ago, and as you can see (so far) they haven't fallen. Haha, I hope that they don't anyway.

I found the idea on Pinterest for these ideas, so if you aren't a member already, go find someone who is and ask them to invite you, its faster than requesting an invite. Mine took about 2-3 weeks, and my mom said "why didn't you just ask me?" -I had no idea she was already a member!

My babies have crossed the Bridge

A few weeks ago I came home for the weekend (from my house to my mom's, which I still call home) and my mom sat me down and told me that it was time. Instant tears filled my eyes. My chocolate lab, Hershey, had gotten to the point of incontinence, and we had agreed that whenever our pets were unable to go and they were in pain getting up, it was time. Hershey had really bad arthritis and we believe had suffered a stroke or too in her past few months, but she had held out. After tears were shed and shared, I left Sunday night to go back to my other house, and Monday around noon, I got a text from my mom saying that Hershey had crossed the Bridge. For those of you who don't know, the Bridge is called the Rainbow Bridge, and all pets cross it on their path into the heavens. Rainbow Bridge Poem

A week later, I see on Facebook that my brother's beagle mix, Bubba, had gone to the vet for overnight observation. I called mom to see why, and she told me that she came home to find Bubba on the ground, lying very still and whining. She figured that he had fallen off his dog house and broken his back. Bubba loves to stand (and sleep) on his dog house. I think he feels taller up there. Anyway, she had taken him to the vet to get him fixed up. Both of us were thinking the same thing, "Don't let us lose another baby, its too soon!" A text the next day confirmed my fears. My mom had gone back to the vet to check on Bubba, and after telling her there was no change, and they couldn't help him, mom and the vets made him comfortable and let him cross the bridge. I now have two collars to collect when I go home again. I have my Dalmatian's from when she died a few years back, and keeping their collars is my way of keeping them close.

This is Hershey, and below is Bubba.
I love this photo because it looks like he's winking at me, which by the way this shot was totally random.

In my Painting 2 class we have to "paint an emotion." Boy is that hard! I'm not expressive like those expressionist painting where they just explode the canvas with paint, so this was a particularly difficult subject for me. After a day of trying to figure out what I'm going to do, I asked my instructor if I could select my emotion. He said yes after I told him about losing my babies.
So now my emotion is "loss," and today I've decided what I'm going to paint. I'll be sure and share it with you guys after I've finished it. I don't think I'm going to do a WIP (work in progress) post just yet.

Stay tuned, I've got more headed your way!

It Begins.... Dun Dun DUUUN!

Well I finally did it. I started a blog!
I've been considering it for a while now, just never really got up the guts to do it. So here it is, an online corner of my world, set out for you to see. Lets see how it goes.

First off, I would like to tell you, that I type the way I talk, so if something doesn't quite sound right, its just my Southern accent slipping by. I'm most likely going to copy and paste this into my stats, but I'll go ahead and tell you about myself.

I'm 22, in college for a photography degree, (with no {good} camera), I like to paint and read mystery books, and I LOVE to DIY home furnishings! I'm married to the love of my life for 11 months now, and just realized (like right this second) that our first year anniversary is approaching! AHH!

So now that you know a little about me, I'll tell you why I created a blog in the first place.
I've recently gotten into the world of Pinterest, and some of the DIY things on there are too cute not to try, so this is one of the reasons I started a blog, to show you my versions of my favorite Pins. Also, as a type of online update of my life, just in case your interested.

Well, sounds ok so far, I'll try to keep my posts pretty regular, but for now- goodnight!
